i bought my very first real digital camera yesterday at emerald plaza at orchard. i got it for 500 bucks only. it was the only stock in the store and it arrived the same day i got it. lucky bastard.
it's a nikon coolpix p5000 its quite a new model from nikon, launched last month. i usually use my sony ericsson k800i to take photos since its more candid. but this one is like a mini dslr... you can put flash, change lens, and it's 10-MEGAF*CKINGPIXELS. its quite small actually it fits my back pocket easily.
my photos are here: http://fotologue.jp/#yamachan and im quite addicted to that site that i stopped playing wow and concentrate being an amateur photographer for the rest of my life. because in fotologue, people appreciate good work

anyways, i bought a huge-ass monitor from dell (from which the staff were very, very good and efficient). i'm not used to using a huge-ass monitor but i really think it was really huge. it's a 24" dell ultrasharp 2407WFP monitor. i was planning on getting a macbook pro, or mac mini, or some mac something. so the best bet is to nail the monitor first, then do the hardware later. Adobe CS3 is out on their sites so i must prepare my arsenal.
Among other things, i got 2 new (kinda) comic books. One is The Watchmen, a classique 1980's comic book and the New Avengers Civil War event. The watchmen is really good i've only read the first 3 to 5 pages and i cant get the words out of my head. Alan Moore is the Stanley Kubrick of Comic books (to me, he is).
The next one, i didnt buy but well worth the post. Microsoft's MSN team sent a DM kit (Direct Mailer) and I got this on my desk a few days ago. It's a demo-reel of interactive banners from MSN.com it's quite cool how they packaged the whole thing. I would just want to have the real chips instead of substitutes.
Yeah, i'm one of the last people to watch this film. And I know you've already heard that the film is "THE-BEST-FILM-EVER!!!" a thousand times before so i'm not gonna say it.
It's very good.
In another timeline, like last week, we had dinner in Yumeya, my favourite Japanese restaurant in Singapore. I had the uber goodness (i forgot what it was called) but its like scallops and stuff with melting cheese on top heated in embers. The cheese crackles softly on the edges of the giant shell all goodness rest upon like the foamy edges in the ocean hitting the shores in the beach.
Funny, but my tastebuds beg to differ. They said the same dish I first tasted is still the best. I dont know if Yumeya's losing its touch but the first time is still the best. I told the managers that it is not the same as before so they sent our table a new plate but... the taste is not the same as the first time I tasted it. I tell you, I wanted to commit harakiri (pun intended) in one corner while listening to their Japanese tracks. I felt embarrassed in front of my friends because I brought them there to experience it. But I failed.
In any case, Yumeya is still my favourite gourmet Japanese restaurant in Singapore. But then again, I havent been to the other cafe where the waitresses dress in lolita french maid costumes. WOW. When I go there, I'll snap a photo for you guys.

i got in an international design magazine called Computer Arts last January. I was quite excited about it because i'm a sucker for publications. i got the interview last november so i was expecting it to come out last december but it didn't so i thought it was not published yet. then last week, a friend of mine told me i was in the january issue so i got excited because i thought it wasn't gonna come out.
the title was "Future Trends: How to stay on top of 2007's most important looks." i was very happy, to be in a magazine predicting the design trends of 2007, it's quite cool i thought.
i'm thankful for CA for including me on the main article, i will always remember it and i hope there will be more to come. it's
been printed out already but in any case, please don't take it the
wrong way because i'm also an illustrator, i draw cute things as well.
: )
I got a message from a friend some time ago, asking me if I am an introvert or an extrovert. Funny, I was quite nonplussed, because to tell you the truth, I didn’t know what an introvert or an extrovert is. I had some guesses in my mind but, I won’t tell you what they are.
They say that there are two types of people in terms of general psychology – to be specific, regarding assertiveness.
The first one is the extrovert, the natural-born-leaders of the world since they tend to be more assertive, verbal, and they’re usually the: I-don’t-take-no-for-an-answer-you-piece-of-crap people. They say seventy-five percent of the world’s population comprises of extroverts so these Orcs have a big community so it’s a good thing if you’re one of them. I think extroverts make good leaders since they tend to think and communicate at the same time. But then again, I think lawyers are extroverts, with exception to my dad, of course.
The second one is the introvert, the more… how should I say this… passive, yes, passive. The other twenty-five percent of the population comprises of the introverts. They are usually reserved, passionate, and they’re the: I-don’t-fancy-small-talks-especially-with-people-like-you-but-I-won’t-tell-you-that-because-I’m -nice kind of people. Yes, ticking time-bombs. Introverts are usually the brain behind the leader, the concilieri of the family and… people who prefer the colour blue rather than red. They usually have a hard time talking to people because they think a lot about what other people think about them.
Much to my regret, I belong to this group but it makes perfect sense though, at work and just about anywhere.
When I go for meetings, creative briefings or just a little chat with my bosses, I’d rather listen than talk to them. It’s because I tend to wait for them to say what I wanted to hear then talk back to know that we’re on the same boat. It’s like as if my mind is wandering somewhere else, and I get lost. Even when I speak, I don’t tend understand what I’m saying. When they expect me to contribute to a meeting, I end up not contributing at all and pretend that I have something to say but I’m just repeating a previous statement. I don’t know but I just have a hard time speaking when there are people around me. No, I’m not anti-social because I have a lot of friends but it’s just how it is. You know, it’s like you want to just end the meeting and get the job done and move on to the next. Come to think of it, I think meetings are retarded. Meetings are for people who want to show off to everyone that they can delegate you, pretending they know what they’re doing.
In a bar nearby where I work: “Oh, Jeff, this is Emily” a friend of mine says as she introduces me to one of her friends. “Hi Emily, nice to meet you” I reply but in a few hours, in my mind, I would ask myself: “what’s her name again?” does it matter?
I’m only 23. I’m too young to be senile.
Rude as it may seem but every time I meet a new person, there’s always a time wherein their names – when introduced – don’t really feel worth remembering unless we get to converse again at a later time. It happened a lot that I got annoyed with myself about it and I think it’s just plain rude not to sincerely remember people’s names.
Also, sometimes, friends would tell me that I am moody. That one day I’m cool and all then all of a sudden, the next day, I act as if I didn’t sleep during the weekends.
Introverts are deeply passionate and creative. What they can’t express by words, they tend to express by some other means. I’ve read that introverts actually need time by themselves to recharge unlike the extroverts who seem like they have Red Bull dextrosed into their veins. We need time for reflection and we also need to see things in a wider perspective rather than seeing now what is in front of us. I don’t know but it just keeps priorities sorted out in the long run.
Extroverts are people who take risks a lot of time – this is what I like about them. But sometimes those risks don’t really do anything good. Introverts on the other hand are more for permanence. We do take risks but it only happens once in a blue moon and when we that risk is realised, it turns out very well at the end because it’s usually thought out for the longest time.
I’ve read that extroverts are usually threatened by introverts although that would seem to me, an ironic thought since we are the minority of the population. I think it’s because introverts are very talented people, because they tend to spend more time reflecting about themselves trying to know a lot of shit about them and when they do, they harness these talents, weaving them into their lives (for profit or personal). Sounds a bit vague even to me but what the hell.
With all that said, I think this introvert / extrovert thing is nothing. I think there are only two type of people in the world: Orcs from Mordor and normal people but It’s nice to find out things that always gives you an “Oh, that makes sense now” moment.
